From time to time we get people that say this FORUM is confusing and they are unable to figure anything out.

For the record this is how this forum works.

This forum was established in 2006 to expand our offerings to users, the forums allow users of our web sites, casting personnel and talent to post, view and submit for auditions and read articles and updates added by staff, casting personnel casting calls, production crew and other users.

This forum interface is one of the best in the country and offers alot of capabilities to people who take the time to see and READ how it works.

There is no other way to get the information out to people worldwide. This is our chosen vehicle for delivering information in a manner that everyone can read.

Some of you won't understand immediately how the forum works; it is not magic fairy dust with limited text and buttons to click.

But we guarantee you that if you READ, visit often, email us with any specific issues and check out the links, you will become familiar with how the forum functions.

The internet has millions of web sites and interactivity is not equal (works the same). It also depends on what the web site is providing the users of the web site.

Here we post and give free access for open auditions, free casting calls, information on opportunities in the modeling, acting and the extra work field. Additionally we publish informative articles and offer the capability to our members (that is you) to do the same.

So all we can say to those that can't figure it out; be advised that this forum has thousands of members and visitors, and there is .01% that complains that it is too hard. We would like to ask the first question, how much time did you spend on the forum reading and clicking on links?

Our staff is always open to new ideas and suggestions, and welcome everyone's constructive input. If you are reading this, then you are a member of a web site that supplies important jobs and information regarding the entertainment field.

You have benefits available to you as free member of our forums and even more benefits if you are a listed member with a web page profile on our servers.

Please realize that the staff here works hard to keep this site as helpful as possible, they put in hours to market our members and web site as well as handle all the technical aspects of the web site itself.

What we want you to understand is that there are hours of work and costs associated with this entire process even though it is affordable to free to you as a member on our sites.

So our proposal is this…. If you want to help or contribute in keeping the web site free and open access to all, to help the web site grow and attract more work for you, please read below how to become part of making EFM more popular to casting personnel while benefiting yourself.

Below are some tips and suggestions below for members to show their support and appreciation and to help in the goal to get exposure and help EFM to be helpful to all of us.

1- Post your web page link on your social network pages. This helps your page come up in the search engines resulting more visibility to casting people looking for talent.

2-Use your profile page link in auditions and casting call emails. Use it as part of your signature and use it in the body of your email. In the event your pictures don't download in their email, the casting person has the option to click on the link and see your pics and information increasing your chances for the role.

3- Tell the casting personnel when you attend a call or open audition that you are a member of EFM. EFM is known all over the world and if the members spread the word and let casting people know that there is great talent on EFM, then the world would get around and more casting personnel will request our members for projects. And that could be you!

4- Keep your web page profile updated and make sure it looks the best it can be. Casting people are looking at your page in order to make a decision if you are someone they want to see. So be sure to check that your photos are the best that you have talents and abilities’ listed, training, introduction and all the other components that make up your profile page.

5- Visit the forums often, check the posted auditions, leave us a post about how an audition turned out, any questions you may have, how the forum helps you, any casting calls you hear about or just insightful information that you would like to share with the others members here. This helps EFM and members when we share our successes, help, suggestions and stories.

6- Help promote EFM, let others know about this great free resource. The more talent that is attracted to EFM the better for casting personnel and that trickles down to all members including you.

7- If you have any suggestions, casting or audition information, stories about your experiences, tips, and anything else that inspires you to post in our forums, please do.

8- Put an EFM banner on any web page or social networking page you have. If you contact us the staff graphics department will create a special banner for your page if you like. Any size or design for free. If you have good pictures, they will be used in our banners that are out on the internet.

Get More Work and Exposure

If you have taken advantage of the free profile page on handmealine.com or are planning to take advantage of the full free profile; read on:

More and more casting personnel are using the search function on the web site to look for talent.

They are casting for special abilities and talents, things like tattoos, if you can ride, dance, (what kind of dance) shoot and other abilities and characteristics.

We have posted explicit instructions that when setting up your profile you fill out the comments section AND the talents and abilities section with these key terms on your create a profile page so that when casting people are searching you come up in the results. (Please CHECK your spelling)

Sadly not everyone understands the importance or they would do this.

So we are asking those of you who have a profile page and link, to log back into your account on handmealine.com and BE SURE that you have this added this information in as much detail as possible.

Once you have completed or updated your PROFILE on the talents and abilities section. Please be sure to do a search for yourself and look at your thumbnail and your profile to be SURE that it displays properly and adjust accordingly or contact us for help.

Also, do a search by visiting our search page. Do a search using the words you added for talent, abilities and characteristics you possess.

Be SURE you come up in a search for those talents from the search page of the site. If you do NOT come up in those searched, go back to your profile and enter your abilities’, save and then search again from the search page until you do.

The new handmeaine.com casting database is s powerful resource for casting personnel and a terrific benefit to the people displaying on the site, and you need to understand what will get you the BEST exposure when casting is seeking members for their projects.

NOTE: The staff Police the site often and if your profile is not up to par, it will be updated by the staff or deleted.

If your profile is deleted, you will need to go back in and sign up again. BUT THIS TIME you need to be sure to read all our instructions on the create your profile page.

REMEMBER: Your profile page is like having your own web site.

Once your profile is set up you will see a link displayed on your profile page below your main photo, this is your unique profile web page link.

Use your link even if you attach photos for an audition submission, often times a email will not download or display photos properly, so if you have your Handmealine.com or Extrasformovies.com profile page link in the email, the casting person has an opportunity to click on it to visit your page.
Put your link on your resume, this too will be a way for casting people to see you instantly.

You are being given a free opportunity to have your own web page, so please use it create it wisely to keep it on our web sites. You never know who will see and request you.

Are you the minority or the majority? How you communicate is a tell tale sign.

It all starts with the basics, you can tell how a person communicates as to if they are someone who has a clue and on top of thier game or if they are some one that is that is not going to get very far unless they do "get a clue".

When people email or call us they seem to have decided that identifying themselves or using plain sense and common courtesy is unnecessary.

Nor do they find the need to read our web site in any fashion.

What we are trying to say is that we receive thousands of emails and telephone calls here at EFM and MOST people that contact us have no clue as to how to conduct themselves professionally nor do they think that identifying themselves or reading is necessary.

Not only is this frustrating, this is a clear indication that the person who does not at the very least indentify themselves, state clearly what it is they need assistance with, or that they have not followed or read the web site or instructions before communicating with us is someone that most likely will not get far in the field.

We get hundreds of telephone calls and emails from people that do NOT read our web site at all, what they do is go to the contact us page and then call us asking questions that take the staff a massive amount of time to explain, when it is clearly on the site.

Our first response is to ask, did they read the web site? Many just hang up on the staff after being asked that question. Guess they decide that wasting our time is ok and hanging up on us is being professional or guess they just feel stupid.

Some of the questions that are asked include who we are. Many do NOT even know the name of the company or our web site.. sheesh... or they ask us what we do, or can we use them and all sorts of nonsense that is already addressed on our web site or is just impossible to answer.

We ask what is the purpose of writing detailed instructions and answers to questions if no one

bothers to read it?

What is the purpose of calling our staff to waste their time to ask what we do? This takes hours and hours of staff time explaining what is already available on the site . Please the first step is to READ our site, just click and Read. It is easy, fast and free.

What we would be happy to hear is AFTER these people read the web site, then they call us for

answers to specific questions that may not be addressed on the site. Or call us if they need staff to elaborate on something specifically.

What we do NOT want is conversations such as the one below:

hi what is your web site? what do you do, do you have casting calls in my state, I am 5 foot 7

and have black hair and i want to know if you can use me.

Or how about this one?

Is this the modeling agency? i want to be a model. what do I do to join your agency

Or how about this?

I am not sure what your web site is, just got the number and wanted to call to see what you do.

Emails that we receive include messages with no indication of who they are, they do not bother to put anything in the body or subject line of their emails. All they do is attach a photo.

Some send us and email and say can you use me and please call me and don't even include a photo.

TO ALL, WE ARE NOT A TALNET AGENCY, WE DO NOT SELECT TALENT FOR PROJECTS IN FILM AND TELEVISION. THE CASTING PERSONNEL VISITING THE WEB SITE AND LOOKING AT POSTED PHOTOS ARE THE ONES WHO SELECT TALENT FOR THEIR AUDITIONS.

EFM IS A WEB SITE WHERE YOU CAN DISPLAY YOUR PHOTOS TO THESE CASTING PERSONNEL,

WE ARE A VENUE WHERE YOU CAN SUBMIT FOR AUDTIONS AND CASTING CALLS.

WE ARE OFTEN ASKED BY CASTING PERSONNEL FOR SUGGESTIONS ON TALENT THEY CAN USE AND WE ONLY SUGGEST THOSE THAT ARE KNOWN TO BE RELIABLE, THOSE THAT ARE KNOWN TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS AND THOSE THAT WE KNOW WOULD DO A GOOD JOB BASED ON OUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH THEM.

THE STAFF DETERMINES THIS BY THE WAY THE MEMBER COMMUNICATES . HOW THEY ANSWER OUR EMAILS AND MEMBERS THAT HAVE PROVED IN THE PAST THEY ARE CAPABLE OF DOING THE JOB.

BUT WE DO NOT SELECT THE TALENT; AGAIN IT IS SOLELY UP TO THE CASTING PERSONNEL.

What we want to say AGAIN is PLEASE show some professionalism, read what we have taken hours to compile on the site and in the forums. If you are communication via email to us, be specific as to who you are (If you have a profile on our site) include the link to your page in your email.

Do not send us pictures that are not part of the membership or casting process. We delete unsolicited pictures and attachments. They are not read or opened.

Please READ the FAQ page and the forums if you are interested in getting work and new to our site.

NOTE: To those that do read, follow instructions and have that professionalism the staff and casting personnel are looking for; we say to you that you have a fabulous chance of getting anything you go after in life.

Hello ladies and gents, my real name is Darius Clayton but my preferred name is Chauncy. I want to start off by saying that I am a very well talented individual with high goals and standards of life. When I found this website I ultimately thought that it was too good to be true. Even though it sounds too good to be true, I often live life based on the philosophy that says great risks often blooms great rewards. With that being said I would state that I'm willing to try anything at least once. So my one and only question thus far is actually the subject of my post. Has anyone famous ever attributed their success to this forum???

Keep Your Email Address UPDATED!

Today we recieved an inquiry from a casting director asking for over 20 people who have profiles on our web sites. The casting director took alot of time selecting the people posted for the film. She selected members to fill lead roles, supporting roles and extras.

The casting deparrtment began the process of contacting the members with the information on the audition request. Three people who are posted on the web site had the emails we sent come back as non-deliverable. This means that the members DID NOT update their email addresses in the database!

This is so disapointing and wastes the time of the people involved in getting the casting calls out to members as wll as taking space on our servers with information that is not valid.

Please if you have a profile on our web sites, keep your email address UPDATED. We CANNOT contact you without a vaild email address.

You will loose your profile, not to mention roles in film and television. You MUST go into the database and update your email on handmealine.com and on extrasformovies.com.

You have to do it, do NOT send us an email that your address has changed. EFM has thousands of members and the staff cannot do the work that we have set up for you to do which is to keep your email and pictures updated at all times.

If we cannot reach you, your profile will be DELETED.

If your profile is no longer on our web site, more than likely it has been deleted for no contact information, no response to our emails or old photos still on your page.

We ask that you do NOT waste our time, or the time of casting personnel seeking talent. EFM prides themselves on getting work for members that have profiles on our web sites as well as provide casting personnel updated profiles of people who are sincerely looking for work.

We received the casting call communication below between a casting person and a NEW just listed member on our web site.

The staff here at EFM was so appalled as to the handling of this inquiry by the member that we have decided to share it with you.

If you are listed on our web site, then hopefully you are not the person who did this.

We know there are Numerous; (and I say that sparingly ); members who do NOT read, follow instructions, study or research the tons of information contained on our site and the Worldwide Web about the field they are interested in pursuing.

And to represent themselves, all the members and the staff here at EFM is ridiculous and disheartening.

Hey there, sorry it took me a little while to respond. I recently moved and I've been very busy

but I'm all settled in at my new place now now. I'm avalible for any type of spokes model work but

I don't do compleat nudes just partial, like bathingsuits. I am a spokes model for a company now working part time on the weekends and its not going to be lasting to much longer since we've gotten a lot done. I do have a decent amount if experiacne in modeling and I've been into acting since

I was a little girl in elementary school. Im very comfortable in front of cameras.

Now take a look at the following issues:

1- The date this member replied was OVER a month after the email was received!

2- It is apparent that the member DID NOT read the email and respond directly to the casting personnel, they sent their response back to the casting department so the client never got a response. (Think that is a good thing)

3- There is no signature or identification of who the member is in the email

4- The spelling is horrendous. (We posted the above email exactly as sent by member)

5- The client requested photos of member in business attire. No photo or link to her handmealine web page profile was supplied.

6- Other questions the client asked were not answered or addressed by the member

UPDATE - we sent an email to this member with a question or two. And surprisingly (JUST KIDDING ON THE WE ARE SURPRISED COMMENT) the member has yet to respond back to us and is currently up for review to have their profile DELETED off our web site.

What we are trying get you to understand and do is:

1- Be timely with your email and telephone responses to casting personnel and the EFM Staff

2- Be professional –(Look up on the internet the meaning of professional if you are not familiar with the term).

3- Read your email thoroughly – Read it a number of times until you understand the instructions’ and compose your response back

4- Then follow the instructions “if any” the casting personnel is requesting

5- Include your EFM PROFILE LINK to all your email if you have an online profile. So the client can click on the link, see your photos and refresh their mind as who you are. (the client is looking at many people – stand out from the crowd)

6- Add a signature to your email (You can look up what a signature is in an email on the web or while studying the meaning of professionalism).

7- The member above did not bother to address the member by their name, just begins with “hey there”.

8- Spell CHECK your email – (this particular email response above from the member gives us the impression of being written in haste with a "I really don’t care" or "I am just a flake attitude").

It is disappointing to the staff when we see or hear about this type of behavior from our members. (And we see it every day)

EFM works hard to give you a place you can trust, advertise yourself and attract casting personnel to look at your profile and list their calls with us

It is our desire that MOST of you hold the same ideals and recipes for success that the Staff here at EFM wishes for those that use our web sites.

Nobody is perfect, but if you want to succeed you have to separate yourself from the MAJORITY by joining MINORITY of those who make their dreams and goals come true.

Get film roles & photo shoots

After seeing so many complaints and whining on the Internet and elsewhere, I felt compelled to post my thoughts here. You may not agree with what is in this post but at least consider some of these points.

From my school-teaching experience, I know that many kids are raised without the sense of responsibility that we had instilled in us or they've fallen into the trap of picking this up from their peers. My own kids somehow learned that they needed to get beyond the thinking and attitudes of many of their fellow young people and peers in order to be successful in life.

My casting agent complains that many of his clients don't show up for scheduled auditions or shoots, and don't even call to explain. This is NOT the way to get hired as an actor or model. When a producer is burned this way, they will NOT request you again. It's hard to understand that actors and models who say they are looking for work don't follow up to get work.

As an actor with years of experience I have to fight for every role, just like other actors I know. When I do get an audition I make sure I'm on time (actually plan to be early to allow for flat tires, etc.) And remember you need to audition for many parts to get one 'cuz the director usually has a general idea in his/her mind specifically what they're looking for before you even get there - you might or might not fit that. It's kind of like in a sales job where you talk to perhaps 30 - 50 people to get one sale.

I've seen Internet forums where people complain they don't get called. Get real! Agencies have hundreds of clients and make casting lists and calls available but usually you have to apply to these. If anyone thinks an agency is going to pick them out of the "stack" and call them, that actor or model is kidding themselves. In this business, unless you're a "name star", producers and directors are not going to hunt you down - you MUST constantly promote yourself, especially nowdays with so much competition for roles.

Another tip - in an audition or if you get a part, leave your ego at home. Unless you're a big name star, trying to change the script or upstage other actors will NOT get you return engagements and may even cost you the job you're on. Experienced directors know what they're doing and you need to act in accordance with their directions. During auditions, directors look for actors who can take direction. Most acting auditions are cold reads so practice that skill at home with a family member who can make up a script for you to read.

One advantage I have is the ability to show emotion on demand during a reading - sadness or laughter or etc. This has helped me to get parts I would probably not otherwise get. Perhaps years of stage acting helped with this.

This brings up another point - if you're new to this business, you probably will have to take parts in non-pay or student projects to get experience, credits, and even usable footage in many cases to use to promote yourself.

Hi Everyone,

This is an important notification regarding the FREE acting, modeling and extras profiles at Handmealine.com

Hand me a line.com users are beginning to upload their materials but out of every 10 submissions, 9 have to be deleted because:

· No pictures are being uploaded

· Poor quality pictures are getting uploaded.

· Members are NOT reading the instructions regarding size of photos to upload or naming them properly as detailed.

· Users are not filling out the comments section on their profile that appears on their search page, this section is important too. When you fill out the comments section, that text appears on a search and helps generate clicks to your main profile page.

· New Members are NOT checking their profiles after they set them up to be sure that their spelling and photos are displaying properly.

The above is one of the reasons EFM discontinued the capability of members to manage their own pages.

We have not given up on keeping this ability, but this is causing a lot of work for the staff to police the web site for inappropriate or incomplete profiles. Please be advised you must READ everything carefully to set up your free profiles.

If you are considering setting up a free profile on Handmealine.com web site:

1- Take the time to look at the current profiles. Your profile is a reflection on you.

2- Some profiles are perfect and others are not so good. Take a look at these profiles carefully and look at it from a casting person’s point of view. They are seeking specific criteria for their project.

Your profile speaks volumes about you to us and casting personnel including:

1- Can this person follow instructions?

2- Can I see the person face clearly?

3- Is this a person professional?

4- Does this person fit the character type I am seeking?

5- Does this person have talent?

6- Is this person reliable?

7- Did this person just throw up a profile with no thought or care?

8- Is this person reliable?

We will be deleting more profiles but are leaving a few on the site for others signing up to compare.

If you have already uploaded your profile, check it! If you are in the category of not completing your profile, it will get deleted. This does not mean you cannot re-sign up, it means you have to try again.

Check your profile often too because as more profiles are added, the incomplete or not displaying properly profiles will be deleted too, so if your web page is gone, you need to resign up and follow instructions.

Members, we have opened the HANDMEALINE.COM web site and are currently getting the database filled with talent so production personnel can easily locate people for their projects not only locating people by state but now using key words and search terms.

THIS WILL ALSO ALLOW YOU TO CREATE AND MANAGE YOUR OWN PROFILES AGAIN AS WELL AS UPLOAD A RESUME AND VIDEO.

THIS NEW DATABASE WILL BE REPLACING THE EFM WEB PAGES EVENTUALLY SO THAT ON EFM PRODUCTION PERSONNEL CAN LOCATE TALENT BY KEY WORD SEARCH. THIS MEANS MORE AUDITION INQUIRIES FOR MEMBERS.

We need you to get your new set of logins to your accounts! We are implementing a new database that allows production personnal to do searches for talent other than state.

We need you to get your login to create your new profile in your member area.

Members,

We are ready to begin allowing members to create their web pages and state listings.

We have the NEW functionality that allows members to:

1 - Display up to 5 photos

2- Upload a full resume in word document so production personnel can download

3 - Upload a video

4 - Create and manage your own web pages and state listings.

We are now asking members to contact us for passwords to allow them to create pages.

Please contact Chris Johnson NOW to get a user name and password to allow you to create your new page or state listing .

We need to get the database full of talent for production personnel to use when seeking talent for their projects.

Send an email to:chrisjo@extrasformovies.com - put in the subject line of your email: "Please send me password" BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE CURRENT LINK TO YOUR PAGE OR IF YOU HAVE A STATE LISTING, YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME AND THE STATE YOU ARE LISTED ON.

We will respond back with password, you MUST activate it within 48 hours and begin to create your page.

NOTE: if you do not create your new web page or state listing you will NOT be in the NEW search function, you can still be found on the site if a search is done by state, but you will NOT come up in results of the new search unless you build your web page or state listing and get it into the system.

Be sure to read the previous posts on what to do to get the best search results from your page or state listing.

The staff will be monitoring all member pages to make sure all content is acceptable and photos are displaying properly. We will remove any inappropriate content at our discretion. If you have any questions or need help, please email us.

We need your help, please signup to create a beta profile or state listing on EFM. We need to know of any bugs BEFORE it is released live.

Our programmers and staff are testing but we need member feedback too!

We need member feedback to make sur this is the best it can be for all members. Not only will this help us, it will help you.

To date NOT ONE member has responed to help us test. This is terribly disapointing.

If you are a member of EFM you must certainly care if you are being represented the very best way you can be on EFM.

Please we need at least 5 testers. Won't you contact us today so we can release?

Hi all,

We are almost ready to release our beta version allowing members to create and manage their own web pages and state listing , but we need a few members willing to help us test before we go live.

We are looking for members to signup and create web pages and state listings on the beta version.

You will be creating a web page and or state listing. Please be advised that this is beta testing and what you do will not be included on the web site when it goes live, this means when it is released you will have to do it again for real.

If anyone is interested in helping us test, please read our first post on how to be prepared and then email me ASAP.

And we will email you with the instructions on what to do. Then we need to hear back from you on any suggestions or anything that is not working as soon as possible

We are trying to work out any final bugs and need as many eyes as possible. Please help us help EFM grow and get this beta live so everyone can benefit.

Members get ready to create and manage your profiles!!!

Attention all EFM members. EFM is happy to announce new web site changes.

ExtrasForMovies.com is in the process of reactivating the member’s ability to create and manage their own profiles and state listings that appear on ExtrasForMovies.com web site.

In the very near future we will be launching the new format and the new search function for members.

All members will be asked to recreate their profiles and upload their pictures.

Included in the new functionally members will now be allowed to:

· Upload a resume in word format so production personnel can download and print

· Upload a voice and or video sample for download

· Add up to five (5) photos on your page

· Get your profile and photo added to the new search function database for production personnel seeking talent on EFM.

· Members will have their own personal link (example: extrasformovies.com/your_name )

NOTE: All old profiles will remain on the site and live but in order to manage and update your profiles and get into the new search function you will have to create a new profile.

Take Note: Your Page link to your web page WILL CHANGE after you create your new profile.

Current posted members will be provided with a special code or password in order to signup and by pass any fee. Meaning posted members do not have to pay to create their new profiles. Please monitor the EFM forum for updates or email us on how to proceed when it is announced that we are out of beta.

If you have a state listing only on EFM, you too will have the ability to update your photo and add or update one or two lines of text to your state listing.

Tips to get ready to create your personal web page or state listing

Be prepared to get your page to display the best it can be.

Check your spelling
Use lots of text with words such as your talents, abilities anything unique about yourself as well as any specialty you may perform, the more information you provide on your profile the more opportunities may come your way

Key word examples:

Dancer, singer, roller skating, athletic, swimsuit model, voiceover, actor, child actor, entertainer, surfer, can drive motorcycle, languages you many speak and so forth.

List only the personal information you want displayed on your web page from the from provided. Do NOT put any personal contact information or email addresses in your profile. This is not allowed for a number of reasons including the fact that your personal information is on display for anyone to see and use for their own gains. (We will remove any content we deem sensitive - EFM has installed a filtering function to help keep out spammers and people of ill repute.)
Take note of the link that generates on your web page profile, this will be your personal link and your link can sent to anyone who you want to have the ability to view your photos or download your video and voice samples off the internet.
Prepare and upload your resume in a professional word document format to allow users to download your resume to print. Again we suggest you limit personal information on your resume and refer to the EFM link to contact you. (if you need help on resume format be sure to use the FREE resume generator provided to all EFM members.)
Do not include ANY links or advertisement on your personal profile about other web sites or products without the express permission of an EFM representative.
Do not attempt to add html code to your page.
Format your pictures for the largest resolution display allotted on the new EFM profile pages for your thumb, display and larger size images. The largest size display is 570x760 so crop and size your picture accordingly for upload

NOTE: EFM staff will be monitoring all web site content and profiles, if inappropriate content or blurry, low quality and distorted pictures are displaying, your page will become deactivated and you will need to work with an EFM staff member to present a proper profile before it is reactivated on EFM.
